Another week in the NFC EAST and once again the division is shaking things up, Eagles, Giants and Cowboys all lost, Redskins won triumphantly, the Division is still up for grabs for virtually anyone, making it one of the weakest and unstable Divisions of the NFL.
Giving a closer look at what is happening in various teams, the more “juicy” news is from New York and Philadelphia: Victor Cruz recorded a video in which he publicly communicates that his season is over before it starts, because, unfortunately, he will have another surgery hoping to be back for next season. This is a big issue for NY, they can’t know if Cruz will be a factor on the field once again, meanwhile his salary is heavy on the cap, probably the front office will be asked to take some important and definitive decisions. In Philadelphia problems are related to Sammy Bradford’s injury, he’ll be out for a couple of weeks, giving way to Mark Sanchez who will have to prove he can be a good backup, and maybe something more. The injury comes during one of Bradford best performances so far, while the Sanchez brief outcome has been judged “disastrous” by most. They were on their way to win against Miami, instead they had to face yet another defeat. Some say that Sanchez’s athleticism and mobility could be an added value for Chip Kelly and to his philosophy of the game, we’ll see. Washington is officially back in contention after their overwhelming victory against the Saints, Kirk Cousins was named “NFC player of the week” and given the situation in the division, they can have legitimate dreams of glory . The only bad news is the suspension for two matches, for the OLB Junior Galette (which otherwise is on injured list).
A couple of situations to keep an eye on in coming weeks:
– Increasingly rumors say that Tom Coughlin departure at the end of season is more and more likely
– DeMarco Murray is having better numbers as a WR than as a RB, yet another revolution by Chip Kelly ?
Week 11 will see the Giants on a bye, while the Eagles will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field, the Redskins will be in Carolina to try to stop Cam Newton’s dancing, hoping that Florida will host the rebirth of our Cowboys.
